The Ubuntu Net

COMPANY PROFILE

Creating an accessible and inclusive labour market in South Africa. The Ubuntu Net is a platform that will allow low skilled labourers and employers in need of low skilled labour to engage and work together.

At 27.2% more than a quarter of South Africa’s entire population is faced with the crippling reality of unemployment, with the majority of those individuals being concentrated within rural or informal-settlements and most often have limited or no access to the labour market. TUN aims to bridge that spatial divide by using an app and web-based platform that directly links job-seekers to employers, specifically for short term temporary employment opportunities. We aim to provide a transition platform that enables job-seekers to ultimately secure permanent employment within one of the 8 major industries we cater for.

About Me

After studying BA MCC (Public Relations & Visual Design) at Nelson Mandela university, I found my first job as a web-designer for a local company which I worked at for 3 years ending 2015. I didn’t enjoy the job or the environment in which I found myself, so I decided to leave, that was when I first started my journey as a young entrepreneur. Through that journey along with a lot of self-discovery, I learnt that I had a deep interest and passion for sustainable and inclusive products and projects. That realisation and journey ultimately led me to the point where I believed, I too could also play a contributing part in creating a more inclusive and prosperous society, not only in SA but throughout the African continent.
