I am a Kenyan-born community architect. My work is is both green and social driven. Having travelled to various countries in Africa, I observed that many examples of modern architecture do not successfully uplift the communities in which they are built as they use commercial strategies. I believe that a building should facilitate ongoing growth to the people who use it, especially young people. My work which is led by the RDI in my PhD is now recognised locally and internationally due to grounding the green agenda in social design. This includes the nomination for 2017 MBOISA (Design Indaba), 2018 SAPOA most transformative project in South Africa, and being a panellist for the TEDx Cape Town - community activation project.
